Layer definitions and sources

FEMA flood zones: Floodplain-management and insurance mapping; not every flood mechanism.

FEMA Zone X: Generally outside the Special Flood Hazard Area or with lower or undetermined mapped flood hazard. It does not mean flooding cannot occur.

CAL FIRE zones: Long-term wildfire hazard conditions; not live fire or evacuation tracking.

CGS liquefaction: Areas where strong shaking may cause wet, loose soil to lose strength.

CGS landslide: Slopes where earthquake shaking may trigger landslides.

Fault zones: Surface-fault context; not a forecast of shaking or damage.

Tsunami areas: Coastal hazard and evacuation-planning areas.

Dam failure inundation: A planning boundary showing where water could travel if a mapped dam or critical structure failed. For example, one downstream area may appear in several hypothetical dam scenarios. These boundaries are not predictions or live evacuation maps. Actual evacuation instructions come from local emergency officials.
